Myles Sampson, 62, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at his home in Murrysville, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was a first lieutentant in the Army Corps of Engineers and served in Korea. He graduated from Bucknell University in 1967 with a degree in business administration and more recently served on its board of trustees.
As well as being a successful developer of commercial and residential real estate in the Pittsburgh area, Myles devoted much of his time to philanthropic endeavors. He was an integral part of his community, supporting many local charities including the East Suburban YMCA, Redstone Highlands, the Murrysville Rotary, the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, the Boy Scouts of America and World Vision.
In 2004, Myles created the Sampson Family Endowed Chair in Thoracic Surgical Oncology at UPMC, which supports ongoing cancer research. His friends and family are comforted in the thought that his work will continue.
Myles was a longtime member of Plum Creek United Presbyterian Church and, more recently, of Murrysville Presbyterian Church.
